Looking Forward, Stepping in: 2026

2025 was a year of transition, change, preparation, and refining at Haven. As the door was closing on 2025, we took the time to look back at the blessings and evaluate where we've been and where we're called to walk for our annual report to New Horizons Foundation .
In 2025, Haven Family Farms was established as a family owned and operated LLC working toward establishing regenerative farms where Haven Professional Counseling and The Oaks at Haven will integrate animal-assisted, nature and farm based therapies for the individuals, children and families we are called to serve and walk alongside in their journey toward healing; body, mind, soul, and spirit.
Lisa Shaw, LPC, CAADC, MAC Relationships were deepened in 2025 as Lisa Shaw joined our team, a 20 year reunion with Jennifer Thumm from graduate school days at Geneva College. Lisa comes with extensive experience in running her own practice and we will be looking at her serving as Clinical Director of Haven Professional Counseling in 2026 if we decide that we are called to expand our clinical programming beyond the current team with additional LPC / LAPCs in the future.
We made improvements to the Haven Family Farms and Oaks at Haven Retreat Center location at Stonepile Road and will continue to complete renovations into 2026 and beyond.
Angi Dougherty, Trauma Informed Coach @ Footprints Healing and Haven Retreat Director Haven deepened relationships with trauma - informed coach of Footprints Healing, Angela Dougherty. Angi will be our Haven Retreat Director beginning in 2026 and will continue expanding her trauma-informed coaching through her own practice and during Haven retreats .
Haven has also spent time researching grants and engaging in business planning initiatives to set us up for future success with all of our outside of the box, community based growth initiatives that we will be working toward to make our services accessible to all. Prayerfully, these intiatives will be going into place in 2026. We will begin the application process for grants that allow us to scholarship and give access to all.
Haven began a trauma-informed group for children where they planted a garden and engaged in animal-assisted and nature and gardening activities, played outside on the farm and got dirty, made friends, and experienced healing in relationship. During this group, Haven piloted the Kids RQ program by Josh and Christi Straub, (Spring of 2025 through Summer of 2025). This group will be reconvening and accepting new families with our relaunch in February 2026. Families will be going through the Kids RQ curriculum and as the year progresses we will be integrating Capable Kids and all that TBRI has to offer our families with this long awaited Capable Kids collaboration.
Haven clinicians, Jennifer Thumm and Lisa Shaw attended TBRI training with Capable Kids and began working toward an interdisciplinary collaboration with Capable Kids to use TBRI and trauma-informed, sensory smart practices for future groups, intensives, and retreats.
Haven clinician, Jennifer Thumm, attended coaching sessions with Josh and Christi Straub for Kids RQ which will continue to be integrated into our programming as Jennifer becomes a Kids RQ guide in 2026 and Haven implements the programming overall.
Jen Thumm will begin a graduate program that begins in January 2026 in Infant, Child, and Family Mental Health and Development at Fielding Graduate University, leading to certification and deepening our niche’ for Early Intervention in Mental Health in children.
We deeply believe that attachment wounds and trauma that occurs in the early years of life that remains unresolved has become the root cause for the mental health crisis we are seeing in our children, youth, and adults today. We believe that this is the root cause for the sharp increase in narcissisistic behavior that we are seeing in our culture today.
Haven is called to an Acts 2 community, walking alongside of families and through the power of Jesus, we will see healing of body, mind, and soul. Early intervention and attachment experiences will be provided while clinicians hold space in a safe sanctuary community for families in crisis and trauma, as well as for the families in the every day hard walk of life in raising up children in today's culture.
Haven will be a place where they are seen, known, loved, heard and their story is believed. Through this safe space we believe that we can intervene early to repair attachment and relationship ruptures that will break generational cycles of trauma and abuse, rewrite epigenetics, and restore the family to walk through life in community with others and within it's Original Design.
We are also called to Digital Expansion, where we are globalizing our outreach through the release of online courses (e.g.,Understanding Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, Co-Parenting with an Emotionally Immature Partner, Maternal Mental Health, Somatic Release for Families, Work and Rest Balance for Families, etc) and will be creating and holding space for families around the world through this initiative. With your online intensive course, you will have access to our online Haven community, and access to monthly coaching calls for one year if you purchase our monthly membership program.
In addition to this, we are adding in-person intensives and retreats that will be individualized and specialized for your family, small group, or your business. This is the HEART of all that Haven has been working toward and praying about since the early 2000s.

We will continue to offer clinical counseling and trauma-informed mental health coaching in 2026 within the niche's where we are called to serve and will continue to consult, refer, and be in community with others who are running in the same lane. These trusted coaches are operating within their own niche' in serving marriages and providing family coaching.
