The Haven Story...CCSS-Mobile Collaboration

Good day, supporters! As many of you know, counseling for children has been in great demand since 2020. Recently, Counseling and Support Services joined forces with Haven Professional Counseling LLC to bring its new mobile service, CCSS-Mobile (patent pending, 319) to children in the Beaver County Christian School! https://www.bccspa.org

CCSS-Mobile has a full-service Play and Art Therapy center right inside the vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with Real-life and Nurturing: Doll family, doll house, baby bottle, a variety of puppets, animal families, cars, money, cash, register, kitchen food, medical kit, phone, etc. Acting-out, Aggressive, Scary Toys (or not?), Bop bag, toy soldiers, scary/aggressive puppets and animals (alligator, shark, etc), rubber knife, foam sword, handcuffs, etc. Creative expression and emotional release: Sand, water, paints, craft materials, clay, musical instruments, magic wand, dress-up clothes, etc. These toys/therapeutic stations Allow for exploration of real-life experiences including cultural values, traditions, and roles, they facilitate contact with the child by gaining the child's interest and attention. They permit reality testing/limit setting and provide the opportunity for the development of self-control while Facilitating exploration of the self and others. They allow children to express their needs symbolically (without any need for verbalization). Provide for expression of a wide range of feelings, provide opportunities for insight/self-understanding, and allow for creative expression. Toys are durable, simple, and easy to operate, allowing for success and fun! However, because this new patent pending counseling model isn't currently coded to take insurance, Haven Professional Counseling, LLC has added a non-profit platform to allow donors to donate funds for children grades K-8 to receive scholarship scholarshipped counseling services. Parents pay nothing out of pocket, have no need to transport the child, and children complete their sessions once per week during school hours. As a Play and Art Child and Family Counselor in Pittsburgh with Compass Counseling and Support Services, LLC, my desire was to be a part of the work toward healing the mental health of students in Pittsburgh and surrounding counties. As I sought opportunities to work with Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) with the mobile model, the staff and school board saw the need for additional support and loved the idea of the mobile service. As efforts continued, PPS was able to write and secure a grant with The Department of Human Services to bring our mobile counseling services to students twice per week for the 2023-24 school year! Our mobile service provides additional aid in supporting the counseling staff teams already in place at these schools and the relationship is going well! Please support our efforts in Beaver County by donating to Haven Professional Counselings non-profit. Any amount helps! Thank you in advance for your gift!
