The Greatest Gift

Mary

A young woman, a teenager, given a calling and assignment that was well beyond anything she could have ever dreamed, imagined or asked for....

Engaged to be married...

A visitation by an angel, a mantle placed on her that she would, as a virgin, become pregnant with a child, name him Jesus...

He was the Messiah....

The Savior of the world...

Chosen...

Afraid...

Obedient...

Willing to walk out an assignment beyond human comprehension or words....

Joseph

A hard working carpenter....

A humble man....

Engaged to Mary...

The news that she would become pregnant....

A man who could have walked away in disbelief and ego, but who stood beside her, walked in the assignment, protected and provided for her and was an earthly father to Jesus, raising him as his own .....

Jesus

Fully God...

Fully Man...

Born as a baby to a teenage mother in a cold, dirty, pungent stable...

No heat...

No running water...

Birthed by the virgin Mary....

no doctors...

no pain medication...

no birthing coach...

a harsh, dirty, cold environment...

no room available with any sort of comfort...

A humble, harsh beginning to his time on earth...

The Messiah...

The Savior of the world

Family

A young family...

A calling...

A stepping into an assignment in Faith not knowing what this all would look like...

No point of reference...

No baby books written on how to raise a Messiah...

After the birth, they became refugees in a foreign land to escape the murder plot against Jesus' life by King Herod...

The murder of so many babies by a jealous, evil king trying to shut down the life of this baby King...

Through it all....

A Faithful, Loving Father God watching over them who knew how this story would go...

He saw it all...

He was in it and through it and experienced it...

The greatest Gift....

The Messiah...

The Savior of the World...

He experienced everything that you and I have walked through from birth...

He knows you.

He sees you.

He loves you.

This Christmas season, come to Jesus....

Your Messiah

Your Savior

English Standard Version

16 And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. 17 And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. 18 And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.
