What is MNRI®?
MNRI® or the Masgutova Method, created by Dr. Svetlana Masgutova, is a comprehensive and unique set of programs that address neurosensorimotor integration. This involves working with primary reflex patterns at the brainstem level, which are foundational for development, protection, and survival. These reflex patterns are seen in utero and become matured and integrated through birth and typical development. However, when the brain and nervous system experience trauma, illness, injury, or intense or prolonged stress, dysfunction may occur. This may present as learning challenges, developmental delays, unhealthy responses to stressors, and more.
Research has demonstrated that experiences of stress and trauma trigger the genetic, unconscious, protective response of the brain (primary reflex patterns) to activate automatic survival responses. Survival is realized through reactive reflex responses. A chronic state of surviving in stress negatively affects the immune system and may cause an inefficient cycle of hyperactive survival -> reactive reflexes. MNRI brings maturation on the brainstem level for protection and survival by integrating primary reflex patterns and associated functions of sensory processing, motor output, emotional responses, memory, and learning.
Currently, most therapeutic methods use a cortical (top-down) approach, requiring the client to respond and engage on a conscious level. However, if the client is stuck in stress and protection at the brainstem level due to stressors mentioned above, these approaches may have limited outcomes. MNRI® uses a subcortical approach of reflex integration, which address the problem at its foundation and builds on the neuroplasticity of the brain. This facilitates natural recovery, strengthens the nervous system, provides stress resilience, and positive protection responses.
Dr. Masgutova’s method proposes integration of primary reflex patterns as intervention to promote:
· Healthy protection/survival responses
· Optimal self-regulation
· Gross and fine motor development and coordination
· Enhanced attention, focus, memory, and perseverance
· Academic achievement
· Refinement of controlled, skillful, intentional movement
· Motivation and confidence
· Maturation of social skills
· Increased immunity
· Mature cognitive development
MNRI® programs have promoted neurosensorimotor development and improved motor, emotional, and cognitive functioning in children and adults with:
· Learning Disabilities/Challenges
· ADD/ADHD
· OCD
· Autism
· Down Syndrome
· Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
· ODD
· Emotional Disturbances
· Sensory Processing Disorder
· PTSD
· CP
· Genetic Disorders
· Brain Stroke

Reflective Consultation
Reflective Consultation
Reflective Consultation at Haven Professional Counseling, LLC is for professionals that support families and children ages 0-6 (such as Early Intervention, Early Head Start, behavioral health, early learning, healthcare, and child welfare). Small groups are formed to provide a safe space to explore the important work with children and families, to learn how to strengthen relationships, and to build resilience against vicarious trauma. Reflective Consultation provides opportunities to increase providers’ supportive capacity to families and decrease burnout and compassion fatigue that can affect the quality of care. Information about Infant Mental Health and Reflection will be provided to support the process.

Circle of Security Parenting Series
Circle of Security Parenting Series
Trained facilitator Michele Mapes, MS Infant Mental Health will present this Circle of Security Parenting Series. It is for parents of children between the ages of 4 months to 6 years old. Why are we presenting this series? Because at times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. This program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

Vision Statement
Vision Statement
Our mission is to provide our clients with a haven for healing and restoration and equip them with the skills and resources needed to navigate the challenges they face in their daily lives.
"For the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion --
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise,
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations."
